Wood Swivel Bar Stool
The wood swivel bar stool is more my style. I know, these aren't flashy either, and are really not what you would expect from me. But I just wanted to go for some pizzazz if we have to get black leather because I think it's a bit dull. No offense, if you agree with my wife and it's your thing too. I can see how it would be very nice. I just don't want it for my breakfast area, that's all. I do feel that you can't go wrong with wooden furniture though. It's presence isn't strong in a room either, but it does have a great look to it. Especially the rich, darker woods.

My wife makes the argument that the wood swivel bar stool is no more exciting than her choice. I have to admit that I can see a point there. But I never claimed to always make perfect sense. I just like what I like. Maybe it's because it's what I associate with the "old time" saloons of my misspent youth. Like most everyone did, I started going to bars as soon as I was old enough to sneak in to them with my friends. This wasn't too hard as the places in my hometown weren't too particular at the time, as long as you were around the right age. They were places where the neighborhood guys came to drink. And if someone came in that one of them didn't like, then they all didn't like that person, and there were problems. The owner of the place couldn't put any fancy, leather seats in there because they would have gotten torn up within the first week. So, he had one wood swivel bar stool after another. I saw someone throw one of them one night. Luckily, it wasn't at me. I was never a fighter. And I stopped going to those places inside of two years. But the wood swivel bar stool still reminds me of an exciting time in my life that I will never, ever repeat. Where friends were real, nights were crazy, and we all had our whole lives ahead of us.
I suppose if I really think about it, that's why I want the wood swivel bar stool so much. It's nostalgia. I think we all have things that remind us of another time that some part of us wants to hold onto a bit. I wonder if living it is ever really as good as the memories make it out to be. I don't suppose that matters though. After a decade or so, things might as well have happened exactly as you think they did. And this was a good period for me.
Now, how to get my wife to understand this? I don't know if it would even matter to her. She was never the sentimental type. We'll have to have a long talk about what the wood swivel bar stool means to me though. See where it leads. I hope she at least tries to understand.
